With the start of winter it was time to get Snapper out of the water for a thorough refit. The aim was to make her a more comfortable boat for both anglers and crew ahead of the upcoming season.
Wheel House
The first step was a new larger wheelhouse to give more shelter and comfort when undertaking long steams. We chose a 9ft square Cougar wheelhouse built and supplied by Audacious Marine of Ramsgate.

New Engines
We also chose to re engine the boat during the refit to give more speed and better fuel economy. With the old Perkins engines removed we ordered a pair of 8.1l Doosan’s as a package complete with all new controls and ZF gear boxes from Watermotor Ltd.

Wheelhouse Interior Refit
The new larger wheelhouse means a lot more seating and space for a new galley complete with a tea mate water boiler and microwave oven.

The new look is taking shape well now and we are really looking forward to the coming season with lots of exciting trips planned. In April we start heading over to the Channel Islands in search of the trophy Turbot and then down to the west country chasing sharks later in the year. We also have plenty of normal wrecking, inshore and half day trips out of Weymouth in the diary!
